Toe boards

When working at height on platforms and landings, there is a danger that objects could fall from the platform floor or be kicked or knocked. People and machinery located beneath the platform should therefore be protected. Toe boards are mandatory forms of edge protection if there is a risk that objects could fall.

Toe boards fall under edge protection, but can also be used to protect pipe or cable penetrations, including in grids and open mesh floors. Toe boards form part of the mandatory safety measures required for landings, raised platform floors and open mesh floors.
